Board Member
Sharon first learned about PLI in 2015 after hearing a talk about major world religions. She was interested in Muslim culture and wanted to serve the immigrant and refugee community, so she contacted PLI to see where she could get involved. Initially, Sharon tutored a woman weekly at home and then taught an online class in 2020-2021. She joined the PLI board in 2023.
After Sharon completed a degree in chemistry at Trinity University, she moved to Spain for a year to teach English. Then, she returned to Houston to complete a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. She worked in the oil and gas industry as an engineer and project manager for ten years before staying at home full-time at the onset of the pandemic with her two young boys.
Most of her time is spent with her family swimming, going on walks with their dog, and achieving their goal of visiting all Texas State Parks before her sons graduate. Sharon is an active member of Houston’s First Baptist Church, where she and her husband, Chase, serve as the give leaders for their small group and volunteer regularly in the preschool.
She is honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve PLI as a board member and continue to see it grow and serve the community.
