Damon Gunn

Damon Gunn is an accomplished leader in education, community engagement, and nonprofit leadership, with a career dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for students, families, and communities. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Damon also worked with Minneapolis’s refugee community. 

Damon currently serves as Development Director at PLI. Prior to joining PLI, he served as Director of Campus Operations at Yellowstone Schools in Houston’s historic Third Ward. Before relocating to Houston, he led districtwide community and family engagement efforts for Minneapolis Public Schools. 

In addition to his work in education and nonprofit leadership, Damon has maintained a longstanding commitment to ministry through professional sports. He has served as Team Chaplain for the Houston Rockets for the past eight years and previously held similar roles with the Minnesota Timberwolves and with the men’s basketball programs at Rice University and Houston Christian University. Damon is a member of the leadership team for Pro Basketball Chaplains, a network of chaplains serving throughout the NBA, and serves on the board of the Houston Chapter of the National Basketball Retired Players Association. 

Above all, Damon considers fatherhood his greatest calling. He is the proud father of two daughters and finds his greatest joy in spending time with them—whether traveling, enjoying family barbecues, or coaching their athletic teams. His passion for service, leadership, and faith continues to shape the lives of those he serves both professionally and personally.
